A Boy Who Inspired the World
One night at a fast-food restaurant in the Philippines, a college student named Joyce was chatting with her friends. Looking out the window, she happened to find a little boy studying while using the light from the restaurant. She became speechless because he even knelt down on the ground using a homemade bench as a desk. Joyce took a picture of the boy and posted it on social media, saying, “I got inspired by a kid.” This photo spread instantly among thousands of people and touched their hearts.
The boy was Daniel, a nine-year-old living in a shack with his family. He lost his father when he was younger. He was doing his homework there because his family couldn’t afford electricity at home. He went there to study every night.
Daniel has a dream of being a police officer because it was his father’s dream to be one. “No matter how difficult things are, I will still study hard,” said the boy. “I don’t want to say I wish I had studied hard.” He is making steady progress toward the realization of his dream.
