Fashion Revolution: Who Made Your Clothes?
Have you ever wondered who made your clothes? Or do you know where and under what conditions they were made? Fashion Revolution, which is a global movement of people, conducted a very interesting social experiment on this issue.
In Berlin, Germany, Fashion Revolution set up a vending machine selling T-shirts which cost only two euros each. When people came and put two euros in it, they first watched a video about the poor conditions of the workers who made those T-shirts, and then were asked to choose between “Buy” and “Donate.” About 90% of them chose to donate.
In order to raise awareness about clothing workers, Fashion Revolution asked people to post pictures of their clothes on social media. As of January 2022, about 886,000 posts have been made from all over the world. People care about what they wear, but it is also important to think about who made your clothes and how they were made.
